Monorail closed until Easter

The Wuppertal monorail will be closed. For security reasons, such as the Wuppertal Stadtwerke (WSW) communicated. It was not until after the Easter holidays 2010 Wuppertal landmark will once again be available.
Background are massive security concerns after the examination of parts of the Skytrain scaffolding. According to the WSW, the scaffold has been largely rehabilitated. However, there are several historic railway stations in the Monorail up for renewal.
"A new report has shown that the Wuppertal by Stadtwerke (WSW) measures taken were insufficient, the increasingly poor condition of some gentleman skeleton parts to be" dividing the traffic operation on Monday. Therefore, the Board had decided at short notice to take the Monorail out of commission.
During construction, will set up a bus feeder service.
The monorail was regarded for decades as one of the safest means of transport in the world. Legendary was the overthrow of the circus elephants Tuffi "in Wuppertal in 1950.
The worst accident to date occurred fifty years later. In April 1999 a car plunged forty feet deep in the river bed. Five people were killed, 37 passengers were injured. An approximately 100-pound steel claw, which had been forgotten during renovation work in the rail, had derailed the train.
